Magnificent Verdura Inspired Maharajah Chess Piece Gem Pin
A benefit of making costume jewelry is that the designer can get carried away without the restraint of the cost of precious stones. This has to be the most outrageous example of not knowing when to stop. The result is Absolutely Fabulous!
Inspired by Verdura's famous Indian ivory chessmen, where he bedecked these objects with odd jewelry components. We found some vintage Indian chessmen and started to get carried away. The Maharajah sits atop the elephant under the shade of a pearl and CZ briolette fringed coral ceremonial parasol. The driver carries a gilt chain that swings close to the pear-shaped faux emerald eardrop. Atop the elephant's head sits a CZ briolette, whilst his tusks are crystal set and with his trunk he carries a 3'' long CZ set chain! Each foot is set with a CZ set pearl tipped button. The pin fitting is made of two long prongs of white gold for sturdiness.
This jewel is one of those that may be worn for attention value or just displayed as an object. Not for the faint hearted - guaranteed to be a show stopper.
